I believe that the Italian exchange program is a great educational, and personal experience. I believe that it would be fascinating to discover, and observe, cultures from around the world. I believe that a person only gets a few chances like this, and to ignore this chance would be a great detriment to myself, and those wonderful people who might learn something from my visit with them. I have wanted to travel to distant countries since I was in the eighth grade. When my English teacher told us about her trip to Pompeii Italy. You see I love history, American, ancient, world, political, I love all kinds of history, and it would really excite me to be able to go to some of these places that have been around forever. I would just love find out a little more about these historical places from people that live there, and know the ins and out’s of the places that I find absolutely mystical, romantic, exciting, and amazing. I believe that this experience would help me to understand where people are coming from who don’t have the same experiences, as I do, who don’t have the same language as I do, or who simply have a culture that is different than my own. I think that this will help me be a little more aware of the world around me. I am hoping to broaden my horizons, and discover a world I never knew existed. I am hoping to realize what a grand and beautiful world is really out there, because at this moment my world is the United States of America, and I want my world to be one involving every state, country, and continent. There for I would like to start exploring my world in a country whose history, mythology, and culture have fascinated me for years?
My name is Tashina S., I am seventeen, and in the eleventh grade. I have a real passion for history, especially ancient world history. When I graduate I hope to attend collage where I plan on becoming a history major, and education minor. Although I do well in school, I would much rather be at home with my family. I have two sisters ages 14 and 16. Lashelle (the 16 year old) is very athletic. She is on the track, and soccer teams. The youngest (Alisha) is fairly introverted, with a strong will, who loves animals. I live with both my mother and father in a pleasant little four-bedroom house. I myself am not to fond of animals, but we own four cats, fourteen chickens, and one pig. I am a big fan of culture, though living in a rural town we don’t get to experience much of it; we do however have a jazz coffee house which is only open two days out of the year, and a heritage day parade, but other than that I don’t get to see much culture. I do however love classical music, theater, and other various forms of classical entertainment. I am also a baseball fan, who loves to shop, dance, and talk to other kids my age. That is just a little about me, for now, I hope to get to know you a little as time goes by as well.
