My participation in the Foreign Exchange program is to me would help me become a well-rounded individual in many ways.  One of the main reasons I would like to go on this trip is because I am of Italian decent and would greatly enjoy learning more about my ancestors culture and ways of life.  Also, I would like to explore other ways of life rather than just the U.S. ways of life.

This program will allow me to experience it rather than to learn about it in a classroom.  It will teach me as an individual that they’re different societies and home life of other individuals.  This program will also teach me to respect and trust those who are of different ethnic background and those who have different views unlike those of my own.

In my home it is only my mother and I.  We have two dogs and two cats.  Jasmine and Daphnie are my dog and cat.  Peppy and Daisy Mae are my mom’s dog and cat.  We live on five acres of land.  Three of the acres used to hold horses, but we had to sell them shortly after we moved in.  When I am home I’m either on the Internet or riding four wheelers.  I work every other weekend at Evergreen Health and Rehab in Winchester, Virginia.  From August-March I’m a cheerleader.  My favorite sport to cheer for is football, because three is usually a lot more action.  In October and November I compete with the Cheerleading competition squad in PVC’s and Regional championships.  Although we always lose, it’s still fun to get dressed up and go in front of 1,000 people or more.  I like to spend as much time with my friends as I can because I’m nearing my senior year and I will more than likely not to see anybody after high school.  I like to spend time with my family because they are usually the people that I know who can cook.  I like to try new things other than foods.

Going on this trip will help me grow as an individual in all ways possible.  It will help me be more open-minded towards other cultures, people, and country diversities.  In the future I plan to go on more trips to Europe and other parts of the world.  Hopefully this trip will open the door for many other experiences.  This trip would benefit me in many ways, even some I don’t know about.  I would be honored to be a part of the Exchange Program for other future opportunities it will aid me to take part in many years from now.
