I would really like to participate in the Italian Exchange VI because I think it would be a great learning experience for me as well as the Italian who may be hosting me if I am chosen.  I think this cultural exchange will benefit me greatly because I really want to travel whenever I get older and I think this trip would give me a first hand experience of what it’s like and possibly a little boost into forwarding my goals in life.

I really like learning all about countries and their cultures.  Not only modern day cultures but ancient ones also.  I’m really sure Italy has a lot of ancient history in it and there’s no better learning experience than actually being there able to see history with your own eyes.  Also, considering I want to be an archaeologist and major in ancient civilizations, this may help me a great deal later in life.

I don’t only want to learn about their history, but also about their language.  I think Italian is a fascinating language that I would like to learn a little about and possibly even be able to speak one day.  I think if you hear it first hand, and the more your around it the better it helps you to speak more fluently.

I would also like to know about everyday life in Italy and how it differs from everyday life here in America.  To be able to compare and contrast two different countries, with different cultures, which are separated by over 5,000 miles, and see how much we have in common and how much we’re different sounds like something interesting to be able to do.

My life is pretty busy most of the time and I don’t have a lot of time off.  I have a little sister, 4 years younger than me, who is really annoying and a little brother coming somewhere between December and January (my mom is pregnant).  So, between all the babysitting and housework I stay pretty busy.  So on top of all the fun learning this trip has to offer it will give me a chance to relax from my everyday life and take on a different one for a little while.

I’m a very diverse person.  I’m not a big athletic person, but I do like to play soccer and badminton.  I’m a big movie watcher and I love to watch horror and comedy movies.  My favorite music’s are punk and rock and music that I strongly dislike would be rap and country.  My favorite foods include fried squash, tacos, orange chicken, and hot wings.

I really like owning and taking care of animals.  I have 3 dogs (petie, honey, and balto) and 1 cat (warlock), though I much prefer creepy crawly things such as lizards, snakes, and spiders.  I had an iguana and a tarantula but they both died in unfortunate accidents.  My mom “accidentally” killed my iguana and according to my mom the cat “ate” the tarantula (yeah I bet).  So, even though I like them, I don’t seem to have to much luck with them.  There are the reasons I wish to go on the Italian Exchange program this year and a little about myself.
